Lord's Cricket Ground is the third site established by its founder, Thomas Lord. In 1787, Lord opened his first ground in Dorset Square, but he was forced to relocate twice due to rising rent and the construction of the Regent's Canal. When he moved to this current location in 1814, he physically removed the turf from his previous site and relaid it here to maintain continuity for the players.
