Ben's Cookies

The glass display case at Ben's Cookies holds rows of chunky, soft-baked cookies that bleed chocolate across the parchment paper. Helge Rubinstein opened this shop in nineteen eighty-three after perfecting a recipe using chunks of Belgian chocolate instead of standard chips. While the shop now exists in cities across the globe, this small corner in the Covered Market is the original. Rubinstein named the business after her son, Ben, and spent her first years baking every batch herself in the back.
