The Jericho Tavern

food drink

The Jericho Tavern is recognizable by its dark, gabled brick exterior and the painted sign of a bearded man hanging near the corner of Walton Street. Built in eighteen fifty-two, it served laborers and families living in the dense housing estates of northern Oxford. Radiohead played their first live show inside this room in nineteen eighty-six. Thom Yorke and his bandmates were teenagers at the time, and they hauled their gear into the small space to perform for an audience of local friends.
