Ashton Lane is a narrow, cobblestone street tucked away in Glasgow's West End, defined by a canopy of fairy lights strung between its Victorian brick buildings. It was originally a stable lane for the grand townhouses of the nineteenth century. In nineteen seventy-five, the city council authorized its transformation into a pedestrian-only zone. When the local pub owners collectively decided to decorate the lane with thousands of glowing bulbs, the dark, utilitarian service alley became a destination for city nightlife.
