Kelvingrove Park

The River Kelvin cuts a deep, winding valley through the city, and the slopes on either side form the green bowl of Kelvingrove Park. Charles Wilson designed the terraces of grand townhouses overlooking the water in the mid-nineteenth century to frame this landscape. During the construction of the park, workers unearthed a buried canoe hollowed from a single oak log, left behind by people who paddled these waters thousands of years before the city streets existed.
