Garnethill Viewpoint

viewpoint

A concrete platform hangs over the steep incline of Garnethill, held up by rusted steel supports that rattle when the wind gusts off the Clyde. This viewpoint was built in the nineteen eighties as part of a streetscape project meant to connect the hillside neighborhood back to the city center below. Local residents famously fought the council for years over the design, insisting that the space provide a public window onto the skyline rather than becoming another neglected patch of urban scrubland.
