Clyde Navigation Trust

The Clyde Navigation Trust building stands out with its heavy, rusticated stone base and a prominent clock tower capped by a copper dome. Completed in eighteen eighty-six, it served as the headquarters for the men who spent decades dredging and widening the river to turn Glasgow into a global shipbuilding powerhouse. When the foundation stone was laid, workers found a stone hammer from the prehistoric era, a relic from when the river was little more than a shallow, winding stream.
