The Briggait

The Briggait is defined by its soaring, glass-paned roof and the tall clock tower that anchors the corner of the site. For over a century, this structure served as Glasgow’s primary fish market. Merchants hauled crates of herring and cod onto the granite floor while the iron rafters trapped the pungent scent of the daily catch. Today, the stalls are gone, replaced by artist studios and workshop spaces, but the skeletal ironwork remains as the original frame of the city's maritime commerce.
