Barony Hall

Barony Hall stands out because of its dramatic row of tall, pointed gothic windows and the heavy, dark stonework that makes it look older than the surrounding University of Strathclyde campus. Built in the late nineteenth century, it served as the Barony Parish Church until the congregation merged with another parish. John James Burnet designed the structure, modeling the interior after a university hall. It survived a massive fire that destroyed the neighboring church building in nineteen sixty-two, standing empty for years afterward.
