The Saint Mungo Mural stretches across the entire side of a towering brick apartment block on High Street. It depicts the city’s patron saint dressed in modern robes, holding a robin in his cupped hands. Artist Sam Bates painted this figure in two thousand sixteen, drawing on a seventeenth-century legend where Mungo brings a dead bird back to life. A second, smaller mural of a modern-day child holding a robin sits directly across the street, creating a visual conversation between Glasgow’s past and present.
