Charing Cross Mansions

The Charing Cross Mansions feature a curved, red sandstone facade that follows the bend of the street, topped with a corner tower. Built in eighteen ninety-one, these flats served as a high-end residential block during Glasgow's industrial peak. Architect John James Burnet designed the building with prominent bay windows to maximize light for the wealthy merchants who lived there. A fire destroyed much of the interior in the nineteen eighties, leaving only the exterior shell, which was later rebuilt as office space.
