The King’s Theatre features a flamboyant, terra-cotta facade that stands out against the muted stone of Garnethill. Opened in nineteen hundred and four, it was the brainchild of Howard and Wyndham, who aimed to bring high-end variety and drama to Glasgow. When actor Dave Willis performed here, the sheer size of the proscenium arch once forced him to adjust his entire physical comedy routine. He spent the night jumping to reach props that looked tiny from the back of the balcony.
