Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum

The Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum is a massive block of red sandstone built in the Spanish Baroque style, topped by a series of copper domes that have oxidized to a bright green. It opened in nineteen oh one to house the city's expanding art collection. When the building first welcomed the public, the city architect, John W. Simpson, famously insisted the entrances be placed on the sides rather than the front, causing the building to be installed backwards according to local legend.
