Albany Mansions features a distinctive red sandstone facade decorated with elaborate carvings of owls and classical figures. Built in the late nineteenth century, this block offered high-end residential living when the Garnethill neighborhood attracted Glasgow’s merchant class. An architect named John James Burnet designed the building, fitting it into a tight corner plot. While the original residents moved on decades ago, the carvings still peer down from the stonework, watching the street traffic below.
