Finnieston Crane

The Finnieston Crane stands as a massive, cantilevered steel skeleton looming over the River Clyde. It once functioned as the heavy lifting engine for the Stobcross Docks, capable of hoisting one hundred and seventy-five tons of cargo, like locomotives and machinery, directly into the holds of ships. Built in nineteen thirty-one, it represents the industrial might of Glasgow when the city built ships for the entire world. It remains a rigid, riveted giant long after the docks vanished around it.
