Nephele Lobby Sculpture

The Nephele sculpture hangs in the lobby of the American Industrial Center on Third Street. This light installation takes its name from a cloud nymph in Greek mythology, who was created by Zeus to resemble the goddess Hera. The sculpture mimics this ethereal origin by using curved aluminum tubes and glowing tips to suggest the organic movement of floating sea creatures or drifting clouds. Completed in twenty twenty two, the piece serves as a modern artistic anchor within the historic walls of a building that once functioned as a canning factory.
