New Conservatory Theatre Center

cultural

The New Conservatory Theatre Center began in nineteen eighty-one after a group of parents insisted that Ed Decker, then a director at the American Conservatory Theater, launch his own independent program. These parents were the ones who suggested the name for the new organization. Its original home was within the First Unitarian Church on Franklin Street, where it focused on after-school classes and family performances before moving into its current location at twenty-five Van Ness Avenue in nineteen eighty-five.
