Tadich Grill

historic

Tadich Grill stands as a piece of living history, tracing its roots all the way back to eighteen forty-nine. It began as a humble, canvas-covered coffee stand on the Long Wharf, serving simple charcoal-grilled fish to Gold Rush prospectors and sailors arriving at the busy San Francisco waterfront. While the city around it has transformed and the shoreline has been expanded through massive landfill projects, this establishment has endured by moving through several locations and weathering disasters like the nineteen oh six earthquake. It remains the oldest continuously operating restaurant in the state of California, still cooking seafood over mesquite charcoal in the tradition brought over by its original Croatian founders.
