Hyde Street Pier

The Hyde Street Pier holds a collection of historic ships featuring tall, wooden masts that rise against the San Francisco skyline. This terminal served as the primary transit point for the Golden Gate Ferry Company, carrying passengers and vehicles across the bay before the Golden Gate Bridge opened in nineteen thirty-seven. Captain Thomas Crowley famously anchored his fleet here, turning the wooden docks into the engine room for the city’s early maritime commerce. The pier remains a working dock for vessels from the industrial age.
