Larsen Peak

Larsen Peak is one of the distinct hilltops that make up the Golden Gate Heights ridge in San Francisco. It sits as part of a landscape defined by rugged, ancient rock rather than the shifting sands that characterize much of the surrounding district. The peak is named for Carl Gustave Larsen, a Danish immigrant and local benefactor who originally owned large tracts of this area. In the early twentieth century, he donated significant portions of this high ground to the city of San Francisco so that it could be preserved for public use.
