The Grand Theater at 2665 Mission Street stands as a survivor of the city's golden age of cinema. When it opened in 1940, it was the final movie theater built in San Francisco before the outbreak of the Second World War. It served as the southernmost anchor of what was then known as the Mission Miracle Mile, a dense corridor of nickelodeons and grand movie palaces that defined local entertainment for decades.
