Brothers Roland and Victor Gotti bought the spot in nineteen forty-six, turning a neighborhood bar into a destination for high-end French cuisine. Alfred Hitchcock filmed pivotal scenes for his movie Vertigo inside the dining room, using the plush velvet booths and heavy crystal chandeliers to define the film’s atmosphere. The restaurant closed its doors permanently in nineteen ninety-five.
