Federal Building Sky Garden (POPOS)

The Federal Building Sky Garden occupies a three-story-high opening carved directly into the eleventh floor of the tower at ninety Seventh Street. Architect Thom Mayne designed this dramatic spatial void to function as an outdoor public plaza suspended high above the city streets. The garden serves as a deliberate intervention in the building, breaking up the steel and concrete facade to create a place where natural light and air can penetrate the interior.
