Ringold Alley

Ringold Alley is a unique public monument to the history of the gay and lesbian leather community in San Francisco. From the 1960s through the 1980s, this narrow corridor served as a late-night rendezvous point for men emerging from the nearby leather bars along Folsom Street, a stretch famously known as the Miracle Mile. The alley provided a private, informal space for the community to gather long after the city's factories and warehouses had emptied for the day.
