Will Rogers Highway Marker

historic

The Will Rogers Highway marker sits at the corner of Santa Monica Boulevard and Ocean Avenue, marking the official end of Route Sixty-Six. It is a bronze plaque mounted on a low stone pedestal, declaring this the western terminus of the road that once connected Chicago to the Pacific. In nineteen fifty-two, the Will Rogers Highway Association placed these markers across the country to honor the actor and humorist, who famously championed the route's development during his radio broadcasts in the nineteen thirties.
