Heal the Bay Aquarium

The Heal the Bay Aquarium sits directly beneath the Santa Monica Pier, housed in what was once a restaurant space. Through its windows, you can see the concrete pilings of the pier holding up the world above. Before it became an educational center, local activists fought to clean up the Santa Monica Bay, which was once plagued by sewage spills and industrial runoff. This aquarium exists to showcase the marine life that returned to these waters after those decades of environmental advocacy.
