Idaho Gate

The Idaho Gate sits between two stone pillars, topped with rough-hewn pine logs that mimic the architecture of the nineteen hundred and five Lewis and Clark Exposition. Originally built in Portland, Oregon, it served as the grand entrance for Idaho’s state pavilion. When the fair ended, a Santa Monica developer bought the logs, shipped them south, and reassembled them to mark the entrance to a new residential tract. A small plaque on the stone remains from the days when this was a promotion for real estate.
