Santa Monica Statue

The bronze statue of Saint Monica stands with her hand raised toward the ocean, cast in a calm, welcoming pose. She weighs nearly two thousand pounds and reaches eight feet in height. Sculptor Eugene Daub created the figure to represent the city’s namesake, depicting her as a mother searching for her son, Augustine. In the early nineteen nineties, local residents raised the funds to commission this memorial, placing it at the intersection of Wilshire and Ocean Avenue to anchor the city’s historic identity.
