Three hundred thirty three North Michigan Avenue wears a limestone facade carved with figures of French explorers and indigenous leaders, capped by a distinctive jagged setback that mimics a mountain range. Built in nineteen twenty-eight, the tower occupies the site of the old Fort Dearborn. Holabird and Root designed it as a gateway to the bridge, incorporating the city's architectural obsession with verticality and craft. Its construction marked the transition of the district from a gritty industrial wharf to a polished commercial center.
