Wintrust Building

The Wintrust Building sits on the corner of LaSalle and Monroe, distinguished by a massive, two-story tall arched entryway carved from rusticated granite. Originally built in nineteen oh six as the Chicago Savings Bank, the structure displays the heavy, muscular aesthetic of the era. Inside, a soaring banking hall retains its original skylights and marble finishes. In nineteen ninety, a clerk discovered a stash of forgotten safety deposit boxes, revealing uncollected jewelry and stock certificates that had sat untouched for decades.
