CIBC Theatre

The CIBC Theatre features a marquee that stretches deep over the sidewalk, held up by thin, dark vertical supports. Built in nineteen oh six as the Majestic Theatre, it was the tallest building in Chicago for two years. During a performance in nineteen oh three, a fire at the Iroquois Theatre next door killed hundreds of people. The owners of this building installed an advanced, fireproof steel curtain to ensure patrons felt safe, and they advertised the theater as the safest playhouse in the country.
