LaSalle-Wacker Building

The LaSalle-Wacker Building stands out for the dramatic setbacks of its upper floors, which create a jagged, wedding-cake profile against the skyline. Completed in nineteen thirty, this art deco tower marks the northern end of the financial district. Architect Andrew Rebori designed the structure to incorporate the smaller building already on the site. He built the new tower around and above the existing frame, allowing the original occupants to remain in their offices while the skyscraper rose toward the clouds.
