The terracotta facade of Court House Place features intricate carvings of lawgivers like Moses, Solon, and King Alfred the Great. Originally built as the Cook County Criminal Court House in eighteen ninety-three, it served as the site for the Haymarket Riot trials and the sentencing of Leopold and Loeb. While the building once held jail cells and courtrooms for the city's most notorious cases, it now houses creative offices. The heavy iron bars on the windows remain from its days as a prison.
