The Otto H. Kahn House stands as a testament to a specific era of New York City wealth, modeled directly after the sixteenth-century Palazzo della Cancelleria in Rome. Unlike the ornate and flashy mansions that defined much of the Gilded Age, this residence was built with a sense of restrained, quiet dignity that was almost unique for its time.
