Alice in Wonderland

You are approaching a rare piece of public art designed specifically to be climbed upon. Dedicated in nineteen fifty-nine, the eleven-foot-tall bronze sculpture depicts Alice and her companions from the classic story, and it has since become polished in many spots by the hands of thousands of children. The sculptor, Jose de Creeft, intentionally used the mushrooms as structural supports to ensure that kids could scramble over the work safely. A foundry expert even spent time rubbing his hands over every inch of the bronze before installation to ensure there were no sharp edges that might harm a curious climber.
