Society of Illustrators

The Society of Illustrators occupies a five story carriage house that was constructed in eighteen seventy five. Before the organization moved here in nineteen thirty nine, the building served as a home for wealthy New Yorkers and their horses. You can still see the original stone mounting block on the sidewalk outside, which people once used to climb into their carriages. This structure stands as one of the oldest remaining carriage houses in the neighborhood.
