The Briarcliffe

The Briarcliffe at one hundred seventy-one West Fifty-seventh Street stands as a thirteen-story anchor of early twentieth-century architecture amid the glass-heavy skyline of Billionaires Row. Built in nineteen twenty-two, the building was originally designed as a hotel by the architects Warren and Wetmore. While much of the surrounding area has been redefined by record-breaking supertall towers, this pre-war structure retains its original brown brick facade and two-story limestone base. The building transitioned from its roots as a hotel to a residential condominium in nineteen ninety-nine, preserving the classic layouts that remain a rare find in this high-density corridor.
