Mark Hellinger Theatre

The building you are approaching was originally constructed in nineteen thirty as the Warner Brothers Hollywood Theatre. Designed by architect Thomas W. Lamb, it was built as a grand movie palace to showcase the studio's revolutionary sound films. While the exterior was finished in a modern style that felt current for the nineteen thirties, the interior was crafted to mimic an opulent, sixteenth century French Baroque palace. Visitors would have walked into a rotunda with a domed ceiling and gilded plasterwork that felt far removed from the city streets outside.
