River Park

The section of the waterfront you are approaching is officially part of Hudson River Park, a massive four and a half mile stretch of reclaimed shoreline. While locals often refer to the green spaces along the water by different names, this area is the heart of the Tribeca waterfront. Only a few decades ago, this entire strip was defined by rotting piers, rusted gantries, and abandoned industrial sites. The transformation from that decaying landscape into a vibrant public space was a hard-fought effort led by community members who believed the neighborhood could reconnect with the Hudson River.
