Church Of St. Alexius Metropolitan Of Moscow

The Church of Saint Alexius stands out with its distinct light-blue domes and yellow-brick facade, a structure originally built in nineteen twelve for the soldiers of the local garrison. It served as a regimental church for the Russian imperial troops stationed in Samarkand. After decades of serving other functions during the Soviet era, including a school for medical assistants, the building returned to the Orthodox community. A small group of parishioners now maintains the grounds and holds regular services inside these thick walls.
