A tall obelisk painted in the light blue and white stripes of the Argentine flag marks the Hito Tres Fronteras. It stands at the exact confluence of the Iguazú and Paraná rivers, where the borders of Argentina, Brazil, and Paraguay meet. Decades ago, this point served as a simple boundary marker for border patrols. In nineteen oh three, a local official named Eduardo Arana organized a formal expedition to map the territory and establish the official monument that still occupies this bluff today.
