Europa building

The Europa building stands out because of its roof, a vast lantern-shaped structure wrapped in a web of three thousand reclaimed oak window frames. Inside this glass cube, European Union leaders meet to negotiate the politics of the continent. The architect, Philippe Samyn, scavenged these wooden frames from renovation projects across all twenty-eight member states. Each piece of oak carries the history of a different European building, bound together to form a light-filled facade that reflects the union of those distinct nations.
