The Galerie Matonge is a narrow, covered pedestrian passage connecting the Chaussée de Wavre to the Rue du Longue Vie. Its ceiling is covered in a dense, faded pattern of red and yellow geometric tiles, a remnant of its construction in the mid-nineteen seventies. This arcade was originally built to bring a modern shopping experience to the heart of the neighborhood, but it quickly became the quiet, interior pulse of the local Congolese community, housing specialized food shops and small tailoring businesses.
