Vlissinghe

A low, whitewashed wall sits on the corner of Blekersstraat, topped with a plain wooden sign that simply says Vlissinghe. Inside this small building, the rooms stay much as they did when the doors opened in fifteen fifteen. It holds the title of the oldest tavern in Bruges. Peter Paul Rubens reportedly stopped here for a drink, and local workers gathered for centuries to talk while they ate. The floorboards creak underfoot, and the hearth still warms the main room.
