The large, sliding garage doors at Brassneck Brewery open directly onto the sidewalk, blurring the line between the tasting room and the street. Conrad Gmoser and Nigel Springthorpe opened this space in twenty thirteen, right when Vancouver was loosening its strict zoning laws for small-batch producers. Instead of bottling beer for wide distribution, they built a system where every pint is served within a few feet of the stainless steel tanks where it was fermented.
