Mount Pleasant Brewery Creek

historic

Brewery Creek in Vancouver is defined by a deep, stone-lined ditch that once funneled hidden mountain water down into False Creek. In the late nineteenth century, this stream powered a cluster of industrial breweries that relied on the cool, fresh flow to produce their lager. When the creek was buried beneath city streets in the nineteen twenties, the breweries vanished, yet the neighborhood name persisted. Today, the area keeps the memory of that water alive through the modern revival of independent beer makers.
