The Vancouver Salt Company building features a distinctive, rounded corner that meets the street at a sharp angle. During the nineteen thirties, this facility processed sea salt arriving by barge from the coast to supply the local fishing industry. Workers moved heavy burlap sacks through the loading bays while the scent of brine hung in the air year round. Today, the salt is gone, and the heavy timber framing holds offices, but the original painted signage remains visible on the exterior brick wall.
