Jack Chow Building

The Jack Chow Building is a thin, wedge-shaped structure that pinches to a width of less than five feet at its narrowest point. Built in nineteen thirteen, it houses the Sam Kee Company. While the city initially confiscated a large portion of the property to widen the street, the owner, Chang Toy, refused to sell the remaining sliver. He commissioned the building to prove a point, packing an office and a storefront into the tiny space left behind.
