The Pendulum Gallery occupies the airy, glass-walled lobby of the HSBC Building on West Georgia Street. Suspended from the ceiling is a Foucault pendulum, a heavy brass sphere that marks the passage of time by tracing patterns in sand as the earth rotates beneath it. While the lobby serves as a corporate entrance, the floor space functions as a public exhibition hall for regional artists. It creates a space where financial transactions happen under the slow, rhythmic sweep of the pendulum.
