Bar Viiskulma sits at the junction of five streets in the Punavuori district, identified by a classic, unassuming wooden facade that has anchored this corner since the nineteen fifties. It functions as a neighborhood pub where time slows down. In the early nineteen eighties, the bar became the local headquarters for a circle of Finnish writers and bohemians. They claimed the corner booths for hours, trading manuscripts and arguments over cheap beer, turning a simple drinking spot into the center of Helsinki's literary underground.
